Wigmund is an Old English masculine given name, the direct source of the later Middle English Wymond. The name is formed from two Germanic elements repeatedly used in Anglo-Saxon onomastics: wig (or its older form wīġ, meaning "battle" or, less commonly in Old English, "war") and mund "protection".
