Meaning & History
Tsila is an alternate transcription of Hebrew ציִלָּה, a modern form of the biblical name Zillah. The name Zillah derives from the Hebrew word tsel, meaning "shade" or "shadow." In the Old Testament, Zillah appears in Genesis 4:19–23 as the second wife of Lamech, a descendant of Cain. She is noted as the mother of Tubal-cain and Naamah. The name Tsila, along with its variant Tzila, represents a modern adaptation of this ancient name, preserving its original meaning of protection or shelter, akin to being under one's shadow.
