Meaning & History
Aparajita is a feminine given name of Sanskrit origin, used primarily in Bengali and Hindi-speaking communities. It derives from the Sanskrit word अपराजित (aparājita), meaning "unconquered." This name appeared in historical context as a regnal title; notably, Aparajita was a Shilahara ruler of the north Konkan branch who reigned from 975 CE to 1010 CE. According to the Nava-sahasanka-charita of Padmagupta, this king may be identified with the Vidyadhara king Shikhandaketu, who sent his son to aid the Paramara king Sindhuraja in an invasion.
