The French form of the Roman name Quintinus. A 3rd-century saint and missionary martyred in Gaul bore this name. The Normans brought it to England. In America, it gained attention through President Theodore Roosevelt's son Quentin Roosevelt (1897-1918), killed in World War I. The American film director Quentin Tarantino (1963-) is a well-known modern bearer.
