Meaning & History

Derived from a Semitic root meaning "thunder". Hadad was a Western Semitic (Levantine) deity of thunder and storms, frequently called Ba'al. He was adopted into Mesopotamia by the Amorites, where the Assyrians and Babylonians knew him as Adad.
