Evgeniya is a Bulgarian form of Eugenia and an alternate transcription of Russian Евгения (see Yevgeniya). The name traces its roots to the Greek Εὐγενία (Eugenia), the feminine form of Εὐγένιος (Eugenios), which derives from εὐγενής (eugenes), meaning "well born" – composed of the elements eu ("good") and genes ("born").
